Bleeding after nose surgery is a common occurrence, especially during the first few days. This is generally superficial bleeding originating from the blood vessels inside the nose and usually stops on its own. The amount and duration of the bleeding should be monitored.
Mild blood-tinged discharge during the first week is considered normal. However, heavy or prolonged bleeding requires medical evaluation. In such cases, appropriate intervention is performed to bring the bleeding under control.
Factors that increase the risk of bleeding include strenuous exercise, hot showers, nose picking, and the use of blood-thinning medications. Therefore, patients should avoid these factors.
To prevent bleeding after nose surgery, it is important to keep the head elevated, be gentle while cleaning the inside of the nose, and take the medications prescribed by the doctor regularly. Attending follow-up appointments ensures a safe recovery process.
